At Montecito children thrive in a unique setting built especially for them, one that supports discovery, independence and social interaction. We believe that play in the outdoor environment is one of the most valuable experiences for children to develop skills that will serve them throughout their life. Accordingly, outdoor activity is a fundamental part of the learning environment at Montecito School. Play sets the stage and provides the medium through which the children may imitate, explore, test ideas, acquire information and draw conclusions.
Children develop their intellectual competencies which will promote academic learning through meaningful, hands-on, self-directed and teacher-facilitated activities. We model respectful social interactions and help children develop their social/emotional and language skills, thus building a strong foundation to become a successful member of the community.
